DR. SHIHAN
I love working at SHN because I get to in the full depth of ER. We have an excellent group that is focused on building our practices through a variety of work, CME, simulation, and teaching.
DR. DOV
The patients and community in Scarborough are fantastic and inspiring, that’s the thing I love most (among others) about working in Scarborough.
DR. FAITH
I joined SHN in 2023 after moving back to Toronto. When not at work, you’ll find me playing beach volleyball or trying to become a bogey golfer. What I love most about SHN is the fast-paced community EM practice and the incredible colleagues I get to work with.

Aside from the great physicians, nurses, and allied health that we have the privilege of working with, I especially love the diversity of working in Scarborough. It's deeply fulfilling to make a difference in the lives of so many people new to this country, and to be exposed to so many languages, cultures, and walks of life.
DR. ANU
I joined SHN right after finishing my residency. What I love most about working here is the supportive colleagues, the acuity and focus on improving our skills through various CME activities. When I'm not at work, I love hiking, running or any form of physical activity!
DR. JEN
I’ve been working at SHN for 16 years. I love working at SHN because I love the people I work with and we see really interesting cases. When I’m not working, I’m a busy mom and I love running and yoga.
DR. TOSHI
I completed by residency at SHN as a family medicine resident. Having a chance to work with not only the emergency department staff but also with the specialist services I knew I found the site I wanted to work at. My personal highlights are the supportive team all around including the nursing staff.
DR. MARC
I feel honored and privileged to be able to help people in from front row center in the theatre of life. I am particularly grateful for the diverse patient population at SHN as well as my amazing colleagues. For me, both groups provide a never ending source of personal growth, satisfaction, and education that I’ve never experienced anywhere else. When I’m not in the emerg I love spending time with my GF and our dogs, playing guitar, performing magic tricks, and riding my motorcycle as far from the city as possible!

DR. KANNA
I grew up in Scarborough and did my co-op year in high-school at the Scarborough Hospital. Since then, I always knew I would come back to serve this community during my family medicine residency at SHN 18 years ago and as an emergency physician today. I love showing up and being part of this amazing team and for the privilege of treating the unique and diverse patients of Scarborough.

DR. MATTHEW
I joined SHN in 2017 after nearly 20 years working in downtown Toronto. Working at the General has been both the hardest and most satisfying place to do Emergency Medicine in my career. Join us, won’t you…
DR. CAROLINE
Born and raised in Scarborough.
After training at Western University I came back to SHN and have been here for more than 20 years. I love teaching and mentorship. I led our education program, CME, and our simulation program for many years. I’m currently the physician wellbeing lead for SHN.
I’m busy with three kids, my husband, and friends, and I love to spend time on the lake.
DR. FELIPE
I joined SHN 5 years ago after trying different hospitals first, and this is where I feel at home. We’re a diverse group, and that’s what makes it a fun place to work. When I’m off I’m usually traveling or socializing.
DR. DEB
I started at SHN pretty early in my career, and what drew me here was the encouragement our department's leadership gives to our "extra" clinical interests. Whether you're interested in research, med ed, QI, wellness, AI, administration, CME etc, there are many opportunities to get involved, or support to start your own initiative. I love the balance this gives my career, and grateful to not only continue growing as a clinician but well-rounded physician.
DR. SHAFIK
I started working at SHN 35 years ago and continue to look forward to coming to work for every shift at all three sites. The diversity of the population, the interesting pathology I encounter, and teaching make it a very rewarding job. I love working with the nurses, consultants and all the supporting staff. In my spare time I like to play ice hockey, sail, cycle and spend time with family at the cottage.
